I am not the victim of the world I see

Today begins a quiet release,
A doorway opening into peace.
This thought extends both out and in,
Where sight of world and thought begin.

At morning’s rise and evening’s rest,
Give minutes three to stillness blessed.
Look slowly round, repeat, be free,
Then close your eyes—look inwardly.

For what is seen outside will show
The stream of thoughts that ebb and flow.
Let each pass by without a chain,
Like drifting clouds that leave no stain.

No one more heavy, none more small,
Each thought dissolves, you need not call.
Repeat the thought, serene, aware,
With gentle breath, released from care.

Throughout the day, recall this choice:
Your freedom sounding in your voice.
In choosing peace, the world is freed,
Its chains unmade by your release.

And when temptation calls your name,
Refuse its lure, decline its claim.
Declare again, steadfast and free:
“I am not the victim of the world I see.”e.”
